Given the title of this post there are about seventy two different ways I could take things but I’m going to go the route nearest and dearest to my heart.
And that would be…(let’s all say it together)…BEACH VOLLEYBALL.
I was listening to some country music, taking a break from perhaps the most awesome Pandora station I’ve ever created (“Africa” by Toto was the catalyst) and this song came on. I decided right then and there I was going to scrap the other post I was working on and do this one instead. It’s actually not the overall sentiment that I’m as good (or not) as I once was that convinced me to write this post – it was a particular line in the song Continue reading As Good As I Once Was
I’m a social guy.
Anyone who knows me is probably either grinning or laughing at that because, frankly, sometimes “social” just doesn’t even begin to describe it. I don’t have a problem striking up a conversation with just about anyone, regardless of sex, age, race, social stature, fashion sense, hair style/color, job or any other variable you can think of. As long as you can make a comment about sports, the weather, bacon, cars, video games, coffee or any other topic I can pronounce and have ever run across in my thirty-some-odd years here on this Earth we can have a conversation.
To me this is fun. I enjoy meeting people. It’s fun. It’s exciting. You never know when you’re going to strike up a conversation with Continue reading Uncomfortably Comfortable
Thanks to a friend of mine I now have in my possession one of my most awesome new (but not really) toys.
It’s about 20 inches by 9 inches and looks like a giant keyboard.
Right now it’s lacking a power supply but that should be easily rectified.
Don’t be jealous…but I have a Commodore 64.
Not Continue reading Yes, Commodore
It was a good week.
No, it was a great week.
My first week in my new job was spectacular. I’ve got a great boss, I’m surrounded by a very diverse team and I love what I do. That’s a trifecta in my book. Plus I’m back on the Sprint campus and within a short walk from two excellent cafeterias, a convenience store and a Sprint PCS store. And Sprint happens to believe in investing in technology to make people more productive; something I haven’t always been party to in prior roles.
John Continue reading Check
Although Friday night wasn’t a success in terms of winning the city-wide music video bingo championship it was a success in terms of having fun.
And – almost as importantly – running across a few other Chivers and Chivettes – pictured here (sorry for bad picture quality – my phone isn’t exactly known for taking pictures well…).
The Chive is one of my favorite web sites and my luck at snagging a KCCO t-shirt has Continue reading Keeping Calm and Chiving On
The 10-week competition is over.
There can be only one victor.
And that one.
John Denver’s Flight Manual came from behind and took the trophy for the Tuesday night video bingo competition at Coaches.
We were down by 100 points headed into the final week but with Continue reading Hoisting The Trophy
There’s a new game we’re going to play.
I was taking a break from being productive and decided to peruse Facebook for a while yesterday. I ran across a post from Cracked.com (sometimes safe for work; almost always amusing): “4 Free Games You Can Play to Make Life More Interesting” and read it. I’m always a fan of games and entertainment so it sounded right up my alley.
If only I had Continue reading Mr. President…
