It was another incredible May Fire! tournament.
For the third year in a row the tourney – which is the best doubles and quads tournament you’ll find in the Midwest – brought dozens of teams and as many spectators to Volleyball Beach. And once again nothing about the tournament failed to impress.
Freddy and I Continue reading May Fire! Recap
This past weekend was the annual May Fire! tournament out at Volleyball Beach. If you’re not familiar with May Fire! think of it this way – the best beach volleyball players around make their way out to Martin City (south KC) and compete for thousands of dollars in prize money. It’s easily the best beach volleyball you’ll see in the Midwest.
This year was no disappointment. The battles were many, and it didn’t matter which team you were rooting for – you couldn’t help but be impressed when Continue reading May’s on FIRE!
It’s not even May yet and the first charity volleyball tournament out at Volleyball Beach is in the books. The We Dig Sherwood tourney (to benefit the Sherwood Center) was Saturday, and despite the thunderstorms early in the morning it was a success.

We had high Continue reading The Start of a Legacy
I love beach volleyball.
Sure, everyone who knows me is probably rolling their eyes right now, mumbling some sort of “seriously? you’re going down THAT road again?” commentary. But I do love it – there are very few things in this world that I’d rather be doing on a Saturday afternoon than playing volleyball in the sand under a beautiful blue sky and a warm summer sun.
This weekend was no exception and thankfully Continue reading Three-peat…ish
It’s hard to believe it’s been that long already, but it has – and like a fine whiskey it gets better as the years go by.
ELLApalooza turned four yesterday.
If you’re not acquainted with ELLApalooza you can check it out here (the web site) or here or here (The Paul Gillespie Experience). But if you don’t want to click on the links the short is this: it’s consistently one of the best charity tournaments out at Volleyball Beach.
This year was Continue reading The Fourth Annual ELLApalooza Bash
